Collins graduates from Saint Joseph’s

Karen Collins, of Cut Off, graduated from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine with a bachelor’s in nursing.

Saint Joseph’s College is Maine’s only Catholic college.


Johnson on dean’s list

Jayla Johnson, of Houma, La., has been named a Hinds Community College deans’ scholar for the Spring 2015 semester.

Deans’ scholars are those students with a cumulative 3.5 to 3.9 grade point average.


As Mississippi’s largest community college, Hinds is a comprehensive institution offering quality, affordable educational opportunities with more than 170 academic, career and technical programs and six locations in central Mississippi.

Nguyen named to UHN Dean’s list

Dianna Nguyen, of Larose, La., was named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Haven for the Spring 2015 semester.


Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean’s List.

The University of New Haven is a private, top-tier institution recognized as a national leader in experiential education.

Local on UM dean’s list


Kyler Trosclair, of Houma, was named to the Dean’s List at the University of Memphis for the spring 2015 semester.

The Dean’s List is composed of students who have earned 12 or more hours in either the fall or spring semester with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for that semester.

Locals earn degrees


Two Houma residents were awarded degrees by Loyola University New Orleans at a ceremony on May 9

Joshua Edward LeBouef graduated cum laude, earning a bachelor’s degree from the College of Humanities and Natural Science. Margaret Elizabeth Strahan earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Social Sciences.

In all, the university presented 1,011 degrees, including honorary degrees to Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward, news icon Angela Hill, former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue; and Phyllis M. Taylor, chairwoman and president of the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation.


USM President’s, Dean’s lists

The University of Southern Mississippi has released its President’s and Dean’s Lists for the 2015 spring semester.

Three locals were included on the lists:


President’s List: Marc Edward Rivet, Raceland.

Dean’s List: Madeline Nichole Daigle, Houma and Emily Louise Matherne, Raceland.

The President’s List includes full-time students who earned a 4.0 grade point average. Dean’s List scholars are those with at least a 3.5 grade point average, but less than a 4.0.
