Players of the Week – Week 5 of the Prep Basketball Season

HONORABLE MENTION: Houma Christian guard Dee Thomas— The Christian Warriors girls’ basketball team never ceases to amaze me. Despite their small enrollment, they trumped powerhouse Salmen this past weekend thanks to Thomas’ athleticism and scoring ability.

BRONZE: Central Lafourche standout Jamairee Williams— It will be breaking news when Marquie Mosley misses a 3-pointer for Ellender. The hot-shooting standout guard was huge against H.L. Bourgeois this weekend, sinking several key 3-pointers to help lead the Patriots to victory.

SILVER: South Lafourche guard Seth Borne— Borne will finish the season as one of the area’s top scorers and no one is going to realize it. He currently averages well more than 20 points per game for the Tarpons – a number that got even bigger this past weekend after he hung 34 points on St. Martinville.

GOLD: Terrebonne guard Deedy Gauno— Someone needs to step up and offer this young man a D-1 scholarship, because Gauno is playing out of his mind right now for the Tigers. The scoring guard won a spot on the All-Tournament team at Barbe this weekend, leading the Tigers past the host team and also Washington-Marion.
