Rain, rain, stay a day;

We’ve got fun indoor games to play!


Our daily forecast this time of year pretty much calls for rain every afternoon. While farmers will tell you we need the water, children might grow tired of having to spend the lone summer days inside.

With a little bit of imagination and a few things you can easily find around the house, time spent inside can be fun! Try these entertaining crafts and activities to make the gloomy day disappear.

Lego Building Challenge


You’ll need:

-Legos

-Picture of the object you selected for building


Challenge your crew to use their imagination, their building skills and all those extra Legos lying around with a Lego building challenge. Expending on the age of your children, choose an object show them a picture of the object and let the challenge begin! Have a little fun of your own by helping them oat or have your kids pick an object for you to build.

Make a Me Collage

You’ll need:


-Pester or large piece of paper

– Old magazines and newspapers

-Scissors


-Glue

Go through all of those old magazines and newspapers and have your kids cat out words or images that tell something about them. Talk about the clippings as you collect them and what they mean to your child. Glue the words and images onto the poster and display it in their roams.

Homemade Cookies


This activity is great for all ages. Little ones can help stir while older ones can measure. All ages can help eat the cookies after they cool!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 sticks of butter


1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 Eggs


1 tsp Vanilla

1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda


Pinch of salt

3 cups old-fashioned oats

1 cup chocolate chips


Directions:

Pie-teat oven to 350F. Beat butter and sugars until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well Add combined Hour, baking soda, and salt; mix well. Add oats and chocolate chips and mix. Drop dough by table-spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool on a cookie rack and enjoy!

Balloon Tennis


You’ll need:

-Paper plates

-Popsicle sticks


-Balloon

-Hot glue gun

Let the games begin! Hot glue a popsicle stick to the back of paper plates and blow up the balloon. Toss balloon back and forth with using paper plate racquets. Make it a team effort by seeing how long you can go without the balloon touching the ground.


I-Spy Jar

You’ll need:

-Jar or bot the


-Small toys and trinkets

-Rice

-Funnel


This quiet activity is also great for road trips! Place small toys and trinkets at the bottom of the jar. Pat funnel into the jar opening and pour in rice, leaving a little space at the top of the jar so that the toys can move around. Give the jar a good shake so the toys move around. Depending an the age group, the game can he played a few different ways. Give the child a list of Hems to find in the jar. or for smaller children, a picture of the item they are searching for. You can have them look for all the items that are a certain color or even a specific animal, like all the dmo-saurs in the jar.

Glow in the Dark Bowling

You’ll need:


-Recycled water bottles

-Glow sticks

-Small ball


Have a little fan in a dark hallway so your game of bowling will really glow? Drop a lit glow stick into recycled water bottles that you’re refilled with tap water and your ‘bowling pins’ will come to life! Set up the pins and get to bowling with a small hall that is big enough to knock the pins over.
