Ruth S. Singleton, 90, a resident of Morgan City, La., and native of Gibson, La., died at 5:17 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016.


Mrs. Singleton was a member of the Railroad Avenue Church of Christ. She enjoyed singing hymns at the church and was a member of the church song group at one time. She was a hard worker, working three jobs to make sure her children finished high school.

She is survived by her sons, Lionel (Vera) and Anthony Singleton; daughters, Jackie (Joseph) Jones and Virginia Singleton-Alfred; sister, Betty (Jim) Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Julia (Susanne) Nelson-Singleton; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Burial is at Union Bethel AME Cemetery in Amelia.
