Burglary arrests continue in Lafourche Parish.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office announced this week that five more arrests have been made for burglary, bringing the total to 15 arrests on burglary since the start of the year.

Kevin Scioneaux, 32, of Thibodaux, was first arrested in December 2017. He had allegedly stolen a firearm from outside a residence in Kraemer in November, then on Dec. 27, Water Patrol deputies were responding to a series of camp burglaries in Choctaw and they saw Scioneaux traveling by both with several items later determined to be stolen.

He was arrested and charged with theft of a firearm and one count of simple burglary. Through further investigation, authorities linked him to four more camp burglaries, as well.

Markell Folse, 17 and Corey Porter, 19, both of Raceland, were charged this week in two Raceland-based burglaries after they allegedly broke into a shed on Peps Lane in October and a residence on St. Phillip Street on Jan. 22, 2018.

Porter was charged with illegal possession of stolen things due to him having stolen property in his possession at the time of his arrest. Also charged in the residential burglary are Kanisha Rener, 17, and Justavran Howard, 19.

Chris Wheaton, 51, of Raceland, was arrested for simple burglary on Jan. 25 in reference to a residential burglary on Morristown Road in Raceland in Dec. 2017.

Gabrielle Griffin, 34, of Raceland, was arrested for simple burglary in the same incident back in December.

“We understand how frus trating property crimes can be for the victims,” Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre said. “In many ways, they can be frustrating to investigate, as well. Thanks to some great, old-fashioned police work, we were able to make progress on a number of these burglaries in short amount of time, resulting in the recent arrests.”
