Fletcher Technical Community College has its new chancellor.

She lands at the local trade school with rich roots in the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) announced last week that Dr. Kristine Strickland is the person chosen to head Fletcher into the future.

Strickland was unanimously selected after a competitive search that included on-campus interviews and public forums with both students, Fletcher employees and also community leaders.

The incoming leader said she’s excited for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.

“I am honored to work with business and industry and our other partners to continue serving the needs of the community and our state,” Dr. Strickland said. “Fletchcer Technical Community College plays a vital role in the Bayou Region and I am excited about the opportunities that exist to impact the lives of our students and the community in which we reside.”

Strickland assumes her position after a long, lengthy career serving technical colleges similar to Fletcher.

She accepted the position after serving as the Executive Dean for the West Bank Campus at Delgado Community College – a role she’s held for the past several years.

In addition to that position, Strickland is also the head of the Office of Student Financial Assistance for all of Delgado’s campuses.

Before working with Delgado, Strickland was the Vice President for Student Services and Student Financial Assistance with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.

Tim Hardy, a member of the LCTCS Board of Supervisors and chairman of the search committee staked with finding Fletcher’s new chancellor, said Strickland will be a perfect fit.

Strickland was chosen after a national search yielded four finalists, including Earl Meador, who has been Fletcher’s Interim Chancellor since 2014.

“As chair of the search commit-

tee, we were impressed by the depth and knowledge of each finalist,” Hardy said. “Yet, we believe Dr. Strickland is the perfect fit for the students, the college and the community it serves. She will continue leading our efforts to deliver world-class academic and workforce training.”

LCTCS President Dr. Monty Sullivan agreed and said Strickland was confident in her interviews that she could help lead Fletcher forward – something the local college aims to do in its efforts to continue to be a leader in workforce training and education.

“Dr. Strickland embodies the requisite skills and vision needed to lead Fletcher into the next phase of its growth,” Sullivan said. “I am confident that she will continue to provide solutions to meet the workforce needs of the region.”

Strickland is a Cleveland native, who now resides with her husband Adam Strickland in New Orleans.

The family has four children – Adam, Kamron, Mary and Kierney.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in college student personnel services from Ohio University.

She owns a doctorate in leadership for higher education and a post-master’s certificate in enrollment management from Capella University.

Strickland also is an alumna of the Harvard Institute of Higher Education Management.
