The moon emerges from its total eclipse over Bayou Terrebonne near the Company Canal Sunday night. The rare event occurred during a “super moon” event – the sun, earth and moon were in perfect alignment, causing the sun’s light to cast the earth’s shadow on the moon. Locally, the eclipse began about 7:11 p.m., peaking at 9:47 p.m. The moon returned to its full brilliance at around 12:22 a.m. Monday. This specific event will not occur again until 2033.
