The Joint Commission, the non-profit independent organization that accredits over 21,000 health care organizations and programs across the country, gave Terrebonne General Medical Center their official Gold Seal Approval last month.

TGMC President and CEO. “The most important. rewarding accomplishment is knowing that we positively impact our patient’s lives each and every day.”

The Commissions Gold Seal accreditation formally acknowledge those facilities that are in within the highest thresholds of quality and patient care.


“Achieving this recognition is an accomplishment for everyone in our organization from Environmental Services and Facilities Management to Leadership and the Board of Commissioners,” Peoples said On Oct 22, Joint Commission did an unannounced thorough survey an TGM C’s campus The organization went through a four-day extensive process using the tracer methodology—which traces a patient’s experience while at a facility This allowed Joint Commission to gainer information for compliance in several aspects that included emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

During the process. Joint Commission met with the hospital’s Beard of Commissioners, Leadership team, physicians and directors. They also spoke to employees and toured several Areas of the hospital.

“The survey takes place every three years; however, at TGMC we are constantly looking at how we can meet and improve processes to have better patient outcomes,”‘ Peoples said “We operate in a state of constant awareness and continuous readiness each and every day.”


TGMC has a Quality Department that manages Joint Commission readiness, but Peoples credits the entire staff at the hospital for accomplishing the Gold Seal of Approval.

“…The entire staff starting with our Board of Commissions. leadership team and physicians are dedicated and devoted to ensuring that TGMC operates in a capacity of constant continuous readiness to achieve this recognition. Our team is comprised of passionate people who drive these processes each and every day.” Peoples said.

Moving forward, even though TGMC just received the Gold Seal and Joint Commission want return for same time, the facility hopes to constantly uphold the standards that allowed them to achieve the accreditation.


“We will continue to move forward ensuring compassion and excellence in the healthcare that we provide,” said Peoples. “Our goal is to remain in a Joint Commission readiness state and to continue to provide the best possible care for the people of our region.”
