A Thibodaux man has been arrested by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly shot a man this weekend.

Just before 7 p.m. on Sunday, LPSO officers responded to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center in reference to a shooting victim having arrived in the hospital’s emergency room.

During investigation, deputies said they learned that the male victim had a single gunshot wound to the left chest and was in critical condition.

The victim left Thibodaux and was airlifted to University Hospital in New Orleans where he was listed in stable, but critical condition on Monday afternoon at press-time.

Through investigation of the case, authorities learned the victim was riding with another man when they stopped at a residence

in Thibodaux on Paula Drive.

The victim exited the vehicle and made contact with another man at the residence, who was later identified as Treyale Brown, 25, of Thibodaux.

The men started to argue, according to authorities, and Brown went back into the residence.

He allegedly came back moments later with a rifle and he fired a single round, striking the victim in the chest.

Brown went back into the residence, authorities said the man riding with the victim picked him up and took him to the hospital for treatment.

After talking to witnesses and investigating the scene, authorities said they identified Brown as a suspect in the shooting.

Deputies later located him and took him into custody on an outstanding warrant for a parole violation.

During questioning, Brown confessed to his involvement in the shooting, according to authorities.

Brown is booked with attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, as well as the aforementioned warrant.

His bond is set at $250,000, but he is being held by the probation and parole board for the warrant violation.
