2 arrested for Larose shipyard burgtaries

Two suspects are in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for their alleged role in the burglary of a Larose shipyard.

In Jan. 2019, detectives began investigating burglaries of marine vessels at a Larose shipyard.

Locks on shipyard entry gates, as well as the vessels were cut in the burglaries and the items stolen were worth more than $100,000, according to LPSO.

During investigation. LPSO learned that a white sedan was a suspicious vehicle in the case. It had been parked suspiciously in the area several times over the past few months.

Authorities learned that Ted Toups, 58, of Gheens, was using the vehicle.

Then, in May 2019, authorities were able to obtain surveillance footage, which captured images of suspects, identified as Toups and Raids Badeaux, 50, of Gheens, entering marine vessels on several occasions.

On May 25, authorities made contact with both suspects during a traffic stop.

Following questioning, both were arrested and charged with simple burglary in connection to the shipyard burglary investigation.

They were both booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on $50,000 bails.

Authorities say the stolen items were sold for scrap.
