Tunnel remains closed

The Houma Tunnel remains closed through Friday. Drivers should plan on crossing the Intracoastal Waterway via the twin span bridges or other crossings.

The Grand Caillou Loop Good Earth Transit bus will not go down Honduras or Bond streets and instead will cross the twin spans.

The bus will resume its normal route through the tunnel when it opens on Saturday.

Lafourche Volunteer Fire Dept. to host Open House

The Lafourche Fire District No. 1, Company No. 5 Volunteer Fire Department will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

All are welcome, but volunteers especially encourage residents from La. Highway 1 from Brooklyn Lane to Wilson Street, Company No. 5’s primary response area, to show support for the department.

Hamburgers, hot dogs and refreshments will be served. Firefighters will make equipment demonstrations and “Sparky” the Firehouse dog will be there as well.
