The town of Lockport has its new mayor.
Voters decided this weekend to elect Democrat Edward “Coach Ed” Reinhardt – an area youth sports coach who platformed on making the town’s government simplier and more efficient.
Reinhardt defeated Republican businessman Craig Rogers, carrying 53 percent of the 718 ballots cast – a 40-vote majority.
Before the election, Reinhardt said he wanted to improve Lockport’s drainage, sidewalks and other blighted areas throughout the town.
CORRECTION: LSU to face Louisville earlier than we listed
In last week’s paper, we incorrectly listed the time of LSU’s bowl game with Louisville as 11 a.m.
The kickoff is actually at 10 a.m. in Louisiana time.
