December 18, 2015Lafourche council cancels meeting
The Lafourche Parish Council will not meet next week in observance of the holiday season.
As per tradition, the council agreed to cancel its second meeting in December to let constituents and council members spend more time with family. The parish council is required to meet at least once a month and did so on Dec. 8.
The council next meets Jan. 12 in Mathews.
Run 4 the Health of It Saturday
The Thibodaux-area Run 4 the Health of It fundraising race series concludes this Saturday with a 15K as its third and final race.
The series started in October with a 5K before doubling in distance for November’s race. Proceeds from the fundraiser, in its 4th year, go to Lafourche Parish public schools.
Registration for the race costs $45, and it starts at 8 a.m. near the corner of North Acadia and Percy Brown Road.
H-T Chamber banquet Jan. 20
The Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce announced Sandy Davis will serve as the keynote speaker at its 87th Annual Banquet on Jan. 20.
A retired fire chief from Shreveport, Davis is a published author and an internationally recognized motivational speaker dedicated to advancing the development of team building, leadership and management skills.
