A traffic stop netted a drug arrest yesterday in Houma.

Last night at 10:55 p.m. the Houma Police Department’s uniform patrol conducted a traffic stop on a 2007 Silver Hyundai for disobeying a stop light.

After pulling over the vehicle, authorities said they located narcotics and a firearm inside the car.

The driver, who was identified later as Jared Brown, 30, initially lied about his identity, before authorities generated an accurate identification.

Brown is charged with disobeying a traffic control, driving without a license, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm in the presence of narcotics, possession of a controlled dangerous substance IV (suboxone) and resisting arrest.

He also had two outstanding warrants for failure to appear.
