The 13th annual Bayou Region Race for the Cure is set for Oct. 29 at Nicholls State University.

Walkers and runners are participating in a 5K and 1K Fun Run/Walk. Seventy-five percent of the money raised in this year’s race stays in the community to fund breast cancer education, treatment and screening programs.

Registration is $20 for adults or $10 for children (ages 6 to 17), and closes Oct. 26.

The Race for the Cure kicks off at 8:30 a.m.

Also this year, cooking teams are competing in a Cajun cooking competition. Teams of three members or less can vie for bragging rights cooking jambalaya or chili. Entries are judged on aroma, flavor and appearance. There is no entry fee, but chili teams must feed 100 people and jambalaya chefs 200. Proceeds from the sales of the dishes will be donated to the Bayou Region Komen for the Cure.

For more information on the cook-off, call Kim Webre at (985) 493-2603 or email kim.webre@nicholls.edu.
