Luminate Houma, Spilt Liquor Productions, Flood the Love, Nonc Nu & da Wild Matous, and Houma Main Street are excited to announce Houma’s first ever Weenie Spaghetti Festival and Cook Off coming on January 13, 2024!

“Everyone from south Louisiana knows what weenie spaghetti is,” chucked Daniel Babin with Luminate Houma. “We are so excited to see people come out and enjoy a meal that they know is for them. There are so many festivals in the area with great dishes, but anyone who grew up here knows that you won’t find weenie spaghetti anywhere else– and we were really drawn to the playfulness of that when we were originally thinking up ideas for this festival almost a year ago.”

All proceeds from the Weenie Spaghetti Festival will go towards Luminate Houma and Flood the Love, two organizations which are geared towards promoting live music and helping local musicians in the community. “We partnered with Flood the Love previously to help raise money to replace Waylon Thibodeaux’s stolen fiddles,” explained Babin. “So we wanted to figure out a fun way to support local musicians and help them raise money again.”

The festival will run from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in the Houma Courthouse Square, and will feature a Chili Cook Off, and Weenie Spaghetti Cook Off, and a Bloody Mary Contest. Businesses and individuals are encouraged to come out and put their recipes to the test! Attendees will also get to enjoy live music from the Cajun Music Preservation Society and Nonc Nu & Da Wild Matous, and a kids crafting corner courtesy of the Bayou Regional Arts Foundation with noodle art and face painting. Entrance is $10. If you are interested in registering to compete in one of the cook offs, please send a Facebook message here.
