The Tri-parish roadways proved deadly this week as three locals were killed in two separate automobile crashes.

The first crash occurred early Wednesday morning when police say 54-year-old Robert Lagarde Jr., was found partially ejected out of his pickup truck.

Authorities say Lagarde sped into the Houma Intracoastal Waterway Tunnel and lost control, ricocheting off the left retaining wall, crashing into a light pole, which flipped the pickup into an empty parking lot.

Police say Lagarde was not wearing his seat belt. He died from crash-related injuries.

Saturday night at approximately 10:26 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C investigated a single vehicle crash on La. Highway 24 near Recreation Bridge in Gray.

Danny Young, 34, of Thibodaux, was operating a 2003 Mercury Marquis northbound on La. Highway 24 when he failed to negotiate a left bank curve, ran off the roadway to the right and struck a large tree.

Young and his passenger, Maria Harry, 28, of Thibodaux, were both pronounced dead at the scene from accident-related incidents.

Seat belts were not used by Young nor Harry.

Blood results in both crashes are pending.
