A Houma man was arrested Tuesday on attempted second-degree murder charges after allegedly beating a Bourg man outside a local bar, the sheriff’s office reported.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s deputies were called to the All-Star Lounge around 1:20 a.m. in Houma after a toilet in the men’s restroom was damaged.

Witnesses told deputies that Randy Joseph Arceneaux Jr., 24, of 258 Cypress Court, Houma, accused Joshua Lemley, 21, of Bourg, of flirting with his wife at the lounge. Deputies found Lemley, his head beaten and bleeding, lying on the ground across the highway from the lounge. The sheriff’s office said the Bourg man was unresponsive.

Acadian Ambulance transported Lemley to the Terrebonne Parish General Medical Center. He suffered a fractured skull and internal bleeding, and remains unresponsive in the critical care unit, Capt. Malcolm Wolfe said.

Detectives found Arceneaux at his residence. At the sheriff’s office, he admitted to beating Lemley; however, he did not give a specific reason, Wolfe said.

Arceneaux’s criminal past includes simple battery (domestic violence), cruelty to juveniles, illegal discharge of a weapon and charges for resisting an officer, Wolfe said.
