Mother Nature is forcing the Voice of the Wetlands music festival to move out of the swamps and into Downtown Houma.

The festival announced on its Facebook page this morning that recent rains have soaked the festival’s annual location on West Park, which made hosting the event this weekend impossible.

To compensate, the festival will now move to downtown Houma, which event organizers said will provide the “ideal setting for a grand experience of music, food, drink and fun.”

Voice of the Wetlands is in its 14th year and organizers said even with the shift to downtown, the event will be free to the public.

The three-day event begins Friday and runs to Sunday.

Headline acts include Tab Benoit, Honey Island Swamp Band, Nonc Nu and the Wild Matous and Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, among others.
