Two Houma stylists – JB Daigle and Courtney Bennett – were among an elite team of 80 Redken artists and sessions stylists at the company’s Cut-A-Thon.

A celebrated event in the Redken Artist Network, this year’s cut-a-thon teamed with Couture for Cancer, raising $13,401 toward Inspire Change.

In all, the 80-member team gave a total of 381 haircuts.

Couture For Cancer provides customized non-surgical human hair replacement systems free of charge to cancer patients. Its mission is to change the lives of cancer patients – one head at a time – by boosting their self-confidence and personal outlook after the devastating loss of their hair due to chemotherapy.

All of the money raised is given directly to the cause. A Redken company spokesman said a minimum of 1,000 hair systems for approved recipients will be provided. The hair systems have a retail value of $3,500.

“I was thrilled to be a part of Redken’s Inspire Change cut-a-thon,” said Daigle.

“We as salon professionals know how invaluable it is to be able to give someone suffering from cancer an opportunity to feel good about themselves during this difficult time in their life, which is exactly what the Inspire Change program is hoping to achieve,” she added.

Throughout 2007, Redken and salons across the country will continue to organize promotions and fundraising events toward Inspire Change.
