The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) named its Bayou Area board members at its 33rd annual membership meeting last week in Baton Rouge.

The statewide business organization is comprised of about 3,500 companies, representing approximately 5,500 Louisiana businessmen and women. Nearly 80 percent of the members own or operate small businesses with 50 or fewer workers.

The organization’s common goal is to bring strategic focus to business issues before legislative, judicial and regulatory bodies in the state.

Bayou Area directors include: Barry Broussard, American Supply Company, Morgan City; Hank Danos, Danos & Curole Marine Contractors, Larose; Doug A. Gregory, Morrison Terrebonne Lumber Center, Houma; Joe Sanford Jr., Morgan City Rentals, Morgan City; Kenneth W. Smith, T. Baker Smith, Houma; Roy T. Sternfels, Arthur J. Gallagher of Louisiana, Thibodaux; and Gerard Welch, Welch Sales & Service, Larose.

At the membership meeting, Bonnie Lemoine, Louisiana external relations manager for Procter & Gamble, was elected LABI’s chair of the board. “[She] has been an exceptional leader for LABI, and her knowledge of how state government and the private sector interface will serve our organization well during 2008.”
