Beginning today, the public will be able to more easily obtain crash reports.

That’s because the Louisiana State Police Traffic Records Section has set up a program where the public will be able to purchase the reports on the LSP Web site.

Prior to today, they had to be purchased in person at the LSP Headquarters or at Troop locations.

“The online sale of crash reports is a tremendous step in the right direction as it provides the public with the convenience of purchasing a crash report from the comfort of their home or workplace,” said Colonel Mike Edmonson, Deputy Secretary, of the Department of Public Safety and Superintendent of State Police in a news release.

Those interested in purchasing a crash report online will have to create a login ID on the LSP Web site.

Each report costs $8.50 and all major credit card providers are accepted.

A PDF copy of the report will be provided once the purchase is made.

The Louisiana State Police Web site can be accessed at http://www.lsp.org. Once there, the public should click on the “Crash Report Req.” link on the homepage’s left side menu bar to search for their report.
