Albon “Bobbay” John Carlos Sr., 74, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Wednesday, Oct. 7.


He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Carlos; two daughters, Carla Chauvin and Becky Dubois Picou and husband Duane; one son, Albon “Al” Carlos Jr. and wife Tammy; three grandchildren, Kristi and husband Willard “Junior” Thibodeaux, Braia Chauvin and Damion Carlos; two step-grandchildren, Brandon Soudelier and Suzanne Cunningham; one great-grandchild, Joshua Thibodeaux; three step-great-grandchildren, Corena Tivet, Nevaeh Cunningham and Jaylee Soudelier; one sister, Geraldine “Teetee” and husband Noles Duet; and one brother, Ferryle “T-Nom” and wife Lou Carlos.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Bartholomew Carlos and Valarie Babin Carlos; one grandchild, Louis Dubois Jr.; one great-grandchild, Willard Thibodeaux III; one sister, Gail Authement; two half-sisters, Merlyn LeBlanc and Mavis Charpentier; and one half-brother, Harvey “Son” Pitre.

He retired from the South Terrebonne Levee District and worked for the late Senator Leonard J. Chabert. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the T-Caillou Lions’ Club in Chauvin and Ward Seven. He enjoyed cooking and working with the community.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
