Anthony Guilbeau Sr., 79, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, La., passed away Monday, December 15, at 4:43 p.m. in Cut Off, La.
Beloved husband of Norma C. Guilbeau; father of Anthony Guilbeau Jr. and wife Lorraine, Phil Guilbeau and wife Maloy, Jane G. Wilson and husband Jeff; grandfather of Chad, Todd, Lori, Mia, Anthony and Lucas Guilbeau, and Sara, Megan and Emelie Wilson; great-grandfather of Caroline, Cyrus, Spencer and Sophia Guilbeau; son of the late Eddie Sr. and Rosita R. Guilbeau; brother of Roger Guilbeau, Hattie Harvey and the late Eddie Guilbeau Jr, Irene Potts and Locade Terrebonne.
Upon graduating from Golden Meadow High School in 1947, he went to work in the oil fields. In 1956, he and his business partner and brother-in-law, Albert A. Cheramie, became involved in the offshore supply boat business named C & G Boats. He formerly served as president of the Rotary Club of Golden Meadow, Tidel and Golf and Country Club, South Lafourche Levee District and Safari Club of Louisiana. He also served on the Board of Directors of Acadian Bank & Trust Company. He received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in 1992 for “Industrial” by the Chamber of Commerce.
Relative and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 18, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow. Interment will be at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
