Arcen Paul Marcel, 88, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Oct. 6.


He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Adams and Della “Dee” Dupre and husband Michael Dupre; two sons, Rodney Marcel and wife Valarie Marcel, and Arcen “John” Marcel and wife Darlene; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Cyrus Marcel.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilma Marcel; parents, Usualian Marcel and Pearl Eschete Marcel; one daughter, Kathleen “Chuck” Toups; one son, Kevin Joseph Marcel; one grandson, Arcen Michael Marcel; five brothers; two sisters; and one son-in-law, Clabert Adams.

He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and an employee for McDermott for 27 years. He was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. He liked to fish and enjoyed life.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with burial at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.

Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
