Bernice Gertrude Matherne Granier, 91, a native of Des Allemands, La., and a resident of Grand Caillou, La., died Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 4:25 p.m.
She is survived by one son, Nolan Granier and wife Anita of Houma, La.; two daughters, Mary Cortez of Houma and Georgiana Price and husband Norris of Chauvin, La.; one sister, Orena Coulon of Westwego, La.; eight grandchildren, Irvin Cortez Jr., Kieth Cortez, Daniel Cortez, Curtis Cortez, Bruce, Craig and Allan Luke and Ashley Granier Bourg; four step-grandchildren, Steve Price, Norris Price Jr., Debra Dupre and Bonnie Lirette; 15 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Granier; parents, Cost Matherne and Georgiana Luquette Matherne; two brothers, Roland Matherne and Wilmer Matherne; two sisters, Dolores Matherne and Esperanze Fonseca; and two sons-in-law, Irvin Cortez Sr. and Paul A. Luke.
She was Catholic and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Chauvin Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at St. Gertrude Catholic Cemetery in Des Allemands.
