Eddie Joseph Henry Jr., 89, a native of Bourg, La., and resident of Denham Springs, La., died Saturday, April 19, 2014.

Mr. Henry lived through the depression, served in the U.S Army as a medic during World War II and worked as a pumper for Texaco for 34 years before retirement. He was a member of the Terrebonne Genealogy Society. He could trace his Cajun family roots to 1785 and the boats they came over on. He served God, his country and his family. He was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church.

He is survived by his son, Eddie III (Linda) Henry; daughter, Susan (Anthony) Hebert; and four grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Merian Henry; parents, Eddie Sr. and Hazel Henry; brother, Leroy Henry; and sisters, Louella, Jeanne and Iona Henry and Helen Chiasson.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday April 23, at Chauvin Funeral Home with Liturgy of the Word to follow. Interment will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
