Garnet G. White, 76, a native of Fairbury, Ne., and a resident of Houma, La., died of a broken heart Sunday, September 7.

She is survived by his daughters, JaLane Gilbert and husband Tommy of Altus, Ok., Ginger Dempster and husband A.J. of Chackbay, La., and Candis Sanders and husband Samuel of Houma; sister, Jeanette Eickmann; brother, Burdon Gaston; grandchildren, Billy Jay Gilbert, Kevin Gilbert, Kristin Russell, Krystal Dempster, A.J. Dempster and Jason Dempster; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Evan E. White, who passed away July 24, 2008 from complications due to a fall he suffered in March; parents, Gailen and Edna Gaston; and great-grandson, Trey Gilbert.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 27, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma with religious services to follow.

Samart Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
