Gary Lee “Boom” Holmes, 44, a native of Paincourtville, La., and a resident of Plaquemine, La., died at his home Tuesday, November 4.


He is survived by his wife, Sheila Mitchell Holmes; two daughters, Talesia H. Armstead and spouse Dexter of Donaldsonville, La., and Kandyce Holmes of Bertrandville, La.; five sons, Gary D. Holmes of Clinton, Travis A. Hardesty of Maple Grove, Mn., Courtney T. and Terrance M. Hardesty and Jahiem R. Holmes of Plaquemine; seven sisters and spouses, Marion Williams, Audrey McKnight, Lena Jupiter and Brenda Lewis of Paincourtville, Betty Ann Freeman, Gloria and George Daniels of Houston, Tx., and Gail and George Abraham of Denver, Co.; two brothers and spouses, Henry and Deddra Holmes of Napoleonville, La., and Ricky Holmes of Klotzville, La.; two grandchildren; his in-laws, Mary and John Bell, Sophie and Jetroe Governor, Lisa W. Paul of Plaquemine, Earthy Jackson, Sarah and Shakur Alhakim of Brooklyn Park, Mn., Deone M. Conner of Baton Rouge, La., McDonald and Cynthia Mitchell of Baton Rouge, Elva and Linda Mitchell of Apollo Beach, Fl., and Ray Charles and Rose Mitchell of Coon Rapids, Mn.; and numerous relatives.

He was buried at St. Charles Baptist Church Cemetery in Paincourtville

Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Donaldsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
