Gertrude Eschete Richoux, 88, a native of Raceland, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 30.


She is survived by four daughters, Audrey Richoux Hebert of Houma, Merrill Hebert and husband Oliver of Raceland, Joy Guidry and husband Edward of Lockport, La., and Terry Coupel and husband Michael of Raceland; two sisters, Lucille Adams of Thibodaux, La., and Leona Cormier of Houma; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tilden J. Richoux; her parents, Dalmas Eschete and Judith Guillot Eschete; one son-in-law, Oliver Hebert; three brothers, Henry Eschete, Louis Eschete and Larry Eschete; and three sisters, Florence Rivet, Mildred LeBlanc and Mable Tardiff.


She was a homemaker and a member of the Houma Lions Club for nine years and served as a Director and Lion Tamer. She especially enjoyed being on the bingo and Cub Sight Committees.

The family would to thank the administration staff and residents of Maison DeVille Nursing Home, the Jennings Senior Care Center and the Jennings Hospital for the loving care, friendship and prayers they gave on behalf of our mother.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, August 1, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2, at Annunziata Catholic Church with mass to follow. She will be buried at Holy Savior Cemetery in Lockport.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
