James Joseph Bouquet Jr., 80, a native and resident of Houma, LA., died at 7:47 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2007.


Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass will be at noon Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.


He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Glenny Lee Castagnos Buquet of Houma; one son, J.J. Buquet III and wife, Sinclair Mercer Buquet, of Houma; two daughters, Andree Buquet Casey and husband, Carleton, of Houma, and Michelle Buquet Golding and husband, Staunton Golding, of Denver, CO.; nine grandchildren, Carleton Casey Jr., John Casey, Alexandra Casey, James Buquet IV, Mary Mercer Buquet, Ellie Golding, Maggie Golding, Hank Golding and Sarah Grace Golding.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Joseph Buquet Sr. and Diana Daigle Buquet; one brother, John Buquet; and one sister, Edna Buquet Prejean.

He was owner and CEO of Buquet Distributing Co. and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He attended Bayou Cane Elementary School, Terrebonne High School and is a graduate of Louisiana State University. While at LSU, he served as manager of the football and baseball teams, and he was a member of the L-Club. He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
