John Eugene Turegano Jr, 64, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 6:05 p.m.


Mr. Turegano was a retired captain with the New Orleans Police Department.


He enlisted into the United States Navy on April 30, 1962. He served in the Vietnam War and was assigned on the USS Forrestal. He received the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged on April 29, 1968. He enjoyed photography and was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Vietnam Veterans of America.

He is survived by his daughters, Juilette (Ralph) Biondi and Jeanne (Shaun) Miller; four grandchildren; and his former wife, Patricia Deslatte Turegano.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VFW; VFW National Headquarters, 406 West 34th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64111.

Mr. Turegano is buried at Biloxi National Cemetery.
