Katherine “Kate” Rousseau Granier, 83, a native of Belle Rose, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Wednesday, April 9.
Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux with mass to follow. She will be buried at St. Joseph Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Paul Joseph Granier and wife, Margaret Charlet Granier, Gary Leo Granier and wife, Susan Womack Granier, and John Aleman Granier; grandsons, Matthew Gary Granier and wife, Jill Hebert Granier, Benjamin Douglas Granier and Samuel James Granier; great-granddaughter, Sadie Katherine Granier; brothers, Kenneth Hilary “Ray” Rousseau and wife, Rosemary Boudreaux Rousseau, and Cecil Rousseau; sisters, Shirley Rousseau Soignet and husband, Lester Soignet and Faye Rousseau Naquin and husband, Norman Naquin; six nieces; nine nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lionel “Leo” Granier; brother, Sidney Hebert Rousseau and wife, Pearl Thibodeaux Rousseau; sister-in-law, Marie Landry Rousseau; and her parents, Herbert Adolph Rousseau and Cecile Aleman Rousseau.
Kate graduated from Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing in 1945. After her marriage to her loving husband, Leo, in 1947, the couple relocated to Belle Chasse, La., and began a family. In 1964, the Granier family moved to Thibodaux to become proprietors of Hebert’s Nursery where Kate happily worked for almost 40 years. She taught CCD classes at St. Genevieve and became an Eucharistic Minister and lector since the formation of Houma-Thibodaux Diocese. She was a member of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and of the Come Lord Jesus Bible Group.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 815 Barbier Ave., Thibodaux, or to a charity of your choice.
Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
