Leslie “Lil Bit” Coleman Holman was born Sept. 18, 1938 in Lafayette, La., to Eany Coleman and Emma Dell Coleman. Leslie heard when God called her name and she answered. She departed this life Saturday, Oct. 10, at 3 p.m. at Iberia Manor North of New Iberia, La.


Leslie Holman leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Patricia Reed; two sons, John Reed III and James Thibodeaux, all of Houston, Texas; five brothers, Ernest Coleman (Tamika), Harry Coleman (Denise), both of Franklin, La., Calvin Coleman (Theresa) of Morgan City, La., George Coleman (Nelvin) of Patterson, La., and Marshall Coleman (Thelma) of Houston; two sisters, Linda Johnson (Ivory) of St. Joseph, La., and Sheila Coleman of Franklin; two aunts, Eleanor Carson of St. Joseph, and Rosemary Coleman of Beaumont, Texas; one uncle, Henry Watson of Baldwin, La.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who realize that earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Eany Coleman and Emma Dell Coleman; one sister, Lucille Walker; and five brothers, Ed Coleman, Alex Coleman, Larry Coleman, Taylor “TC” Coleman and Alfred Coleman.

Leslie was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Johnny Carr Jr. Leslie resided in Houston for over 50 years of her life. She later moved back home to Centerville, La., where she spent her last five years, until her illness in April 2009. She was employed by Wal-Mart Superstore in Bayou Vista, La., for 4 1/2 years as a door greeter. She also visited from time to time Nazarene Baptist Church in Verdunville, La. She will be greatly missed.

No arrangements have been announced.

Jones Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
