Louise Avet Portier, 82, a native and resident of Grand Caillou, La., went to live in eternal happiness in heaven with her husband of 51 years at 1:10 a.m. Monday, October 27.


She is survived by two sons, Michael John Portier and wife Sharon, and Laddie John Portier and wife Janet of Houma, La.; two daughters, Lulla Portier Pellegrin and husband Glenn, and Cathy Marie Portier of Houma; one sister, Marie Collins of Grand Caillou; grandchildren, Jeannie Portier, Carla Pelas, Randy Pellegrin Sr. and wife Sherry, Michael Portier, Jr. and wife Catina, Patrick Portier and fiancé Rochelle Falgout, Sandy Voisin and fiancé Simon Gregoire, Kelly Boudwin and husband Patric, Jamie Portier and companion Tracy Marcel, Joey Bourg and fiancé Pamela Boudreaux, Joni Simon and husband Sean, Tracie Luke and husband Ryan and Monica Bourg and Holly Portier; grandchildren, Randy Jr., Lance, Kaitlyn Pellegrin, Kristin, Austin and Magen Portier, Logan Kelly, Kami and Taylor Voisin, Dylan Boudreaux, Brittany, Kristen, Dustin and Jenae Boudwin, Gage, Kaydynce and Rusten Portier, Lexi and Dason Verdin, Jaida and Payton Simon and Wesley and Riley Luke; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren she cherished dearly.


She was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Portier, her parents, John Joseph Avet and Georgania Pellegrin Avet, two daughters, Dee Anna Portier and Sheryline Portier, three brothers, Joseph Francis Avet, Willis Joseph Avet and Francis Joseph Avet; and three sisters, Josephine Avet Martin, Justillia Avet Pellegrin and Jeanne Avet Dubois.

She was a self-employed landlord and homemaker who devoted her life to the Lord and her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, October 30, at Holy Family Catholic Church with mass to follow. She will be buried at the church cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
