Margaret Melancon Carlos, 84, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014.


Mrs. Carlos was the New Orleans Bowling League secretary for more than 15 years. She was an avid bowler and state bowling champion in 1962, 1964 and 1972. She was a past member of the Krewe of Hyacinthians and was a maid in the first tableau for the Krewe of Houmas. She received a certificate of appreciation from the U.S. Army Recruiting Command for her dedication and service to the U.S. Army Recruiting Team.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Carlos; son, Kirk (Patti) Carlos; sister, Dale Norred; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Doris Melancon; and daughter, Marsha Mediamolle.


Burial is at St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery. (Chauvin)
