Mary Leona Voisin Rhodes, 84, a native and resident of Theriot, La., died Friday, January 11, 2008, at 4:20 p.m.
She is survived by two sons, Henry P. Rhodes and Bryan A. Rhodes; one daughter, Lana Rhodes Hands; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Blanchard Rhodes Darcy; two sisters, Laura Voisin and Claire Rose Champagne; two brothers, Ernest Voisin and Charles Voisin; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren;
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrien Joseph Rhodes; one son, Adrian “Penny” Rhodes; one daughter-in-law, Diane Prosperie Rhodes; one grandchild, Sarah Jean Hand; her parents, Linest A. Voisin and Lorena Helen Champagne Voisin; and four brothers, Linwood, Wiltz, James and William Voisin.
She was a devoted wife and mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and Maw Maw, who cared for us all always. She taught us by example the value of faith and family. She was a lifelong member and volunteer of St. Eloi Catholic Parish. Also, she was a lifetime member of the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild. She enjoyed oil painting and most recently watercolors and sharing her joy of art with others. She made many close friends through art.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Eloi Catholic Church, 1335 Bayou Dularge Road, Theriot, LA 70397, or Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild, P.O. Box 2002, Houma, LA 70361.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9:00 a.m. to noon Wednesday, January 16, 2008, with the funeral to follow at St. Eloi Catholic Church. She will be buried in the church cemetery.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
