Norma Hebert Wilson, 79, a native of Montegut, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 2:40 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2011.

Mrs. Wilson was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. She was a previous business owner and homemaker and the first Football Sweetheart at Terrebonne High School, where she was a cheerleader and played women’s basketball. She was a Desk and Derrick member and member of the Lion’s Club, and a volunteer at Chabert Medical Center Gift Shop, as well as many other local organizations. She enjoyed playing cards with many of her high school friends and cousins and playing Bingo and her occasional visits to the casino. She was a great mother, grandmother and a loving wife.


She is survived by her son, David (Priscilla) Wilson; daughters, Laurie (Mark) Gautreaux, Sharon Stenger, Sheila (David) Poiencot; 11 grandchildren, Jason (Kristen) Wilson, Bridgette (Daniel) Cenac, Kayla (Parry) Hardy, Taylor Wilson, Christy (Ricky) Diggs, Brad Doucet, Michelle “Mimi” (Ryan) Folse, Jenna Stenger, Turner Miller, and Gavin and Abbigail Poiencot; 12 great-grandchildren, Jackson, Evan, Lucas, Vivian, Remy, Esmee’, Koen, Brittany, Brianna, Ricky Jr., Dylan and Devin; sisters, Ruby (Weldon) Savoie and Coralie (Wallace) Ellender; and sisters-in-law, Lori and Hazel Hebert.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace “Frank” Howard Wilson; parents, Anthony and Hazel Blanchard Hebert; and brothers, Luby “Bob” and Reggie Hebert.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Louisiana, 2325 Severn Avenue, Suite 8, Metairie, LA 70001-6918.

The family would like to thank all her doctors and Terrebonne General CCU staff and Physician’s Alliance staff.

She is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
