Norris Joseph Samanie, 83, a native and resident of Bayou Blue, La died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 11:58pm.


He is survived by his wife Adeline Gaubert Samanie; two sons, Carrell Samanie and his wife Mercedes and Larry Samanie and his wife Alice; three daughters, Juanita Pennison and her husband Timothy, Katherine Deroche and her husband Ivy, Jr., and Cindy Samanie and her fiancé Patrick Dupre; four sisters, Hazel Darcey, Evadence Boudreaux, Oris Maronge, and Gloria Naquin; 10 grandchildren, Tricia Samanie Johnson and her husband David, Stephanie Samanie, Dawn Samanie Lamkins, Ron Samanie, Christine Samanie Blanchard and her husband Jeffery, Magan Samanie, Stacie Pennison, Eric Deroche and his wife Dawn, Kayla Deroche and her fiancé Walter LeBlanc and Keith Kramer; seven great grandchildren, Blake and Emily Johnson, Trymaine Samanie, Travon and Aleah Williams, Dylan Lamkins, and Matthew Blanchard.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Adney Paul Samanie and Erenstine Hebert Samanie, two brothers, nest “Fatso” Samanie and Alton Paul Samanie; three sisters, Myrtle Ledet, Bridget Babin, Mildred LeBlanc, and Lena Daigle.

Norris was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. Louis Catholic Church. He was a retired employee of Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government. He was a longtime farmer who enjoyed raising cattle and maintaining a vegetable garden.

He was a loving husband to his wife Adeline for 60 years, a loving Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather.

Visitation is held June 10, 2007 from 4pm until 9pm at Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma and again on June 11, 2007 from 8:30am until the funeral at St. Louis Catholic Church. He will be buried at St. Louis Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
