Thelma “Bay” Joseph Hugh, 87, a native of Thibodaux, La., and a resident of Schriever, La., died Tuesday, July 22.


She is survived by four daughters, Sarah L. Brown and Helen Joseph of Thibodaux, Beverly “Coke” Verdine and Carol Hugh of Gray; one brother, Arthur Joseph Jr. of Meridian, Ms.; one sister, Ruby L. Joseph Aklampke of Los Angeles; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Brown; her second husband, William Hugh Sr.; her parents, Sarah and Arthur Joseph; one son, James Brown; three brothers, Alvin Joseph, Clarence Joseph and Chester Joseph; three sisters, Eartha Harris, Gertrude Anderson and Mercedes Shanklin; and her grandparents, Ellen Rounds and Arthur Rounds Sr.

She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, August 1, at Magnolia United Methodist Church on Johnson Ridge followed by a wake service. A religious service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 2, at the church, with burial at Blue Lilly Cemetery.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
