Velia Lucille Dupre’ Matherne Pavlu, 93, a native of Pointe-aux-Chênes, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 12:51 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2011.


Mrs. Pavlu graduated from MacDonell Methodist School in 1938, was a member of First United Methodist Church of Houma, the United Methodist Women and a member of the “Was Young Once” group and AARP. She loved sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking and being with family & friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Donald) Ledbetter, Deanna (Tommy) Webb, Nona (Craig Hebert) Matherne and Debra (Chris) Fabre; sons, Larry (Judy), Glynn, Lance (Teresa), Vaughn and Mark (Susan) Matherne; brother, Levis Dupre’; 28 grandchildren, Gina Fanguy, Stephen, Troy, Clint, Tina, Corey, Glynn Jr., Chad, Chris, Scott, Emily, Logan and Daniel Matherne, Dana Williams, Deryl Hawkins, Duane, William and Danny Webb, Kenny, Ernie, Melanie and Robbie Mott, Amber and Matthew Selph, April Hebert, Abbey Boudreaux, Kathy Gregory, and Michele and Sean Chauvin; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eustace Matherne; second husband, Julius Pavlu; parents, Aubin and Nelia Dupre`; sisters, Movelia, Lelia and Lillian; grandchildren, Candice Matherne, Madalyn Mott and Sherry Selph; and great-grandchild, Darian Theriot.

She is buried at Terrebonne Memorial Park. (Chauvin)
