Elton Joseph Crochet Sr., 88, of Houma, passed away on November 14, 2023.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church from 9:00 am until the Religious Service starting at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery No. II.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Belle Crochet; sons, Elton Crochet Jr. and Dale Crochet; daughter, Pamela Crochet Freeman; brother, Edward Crochet; sister, Edna C. Thibodaux; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling Crochet and Marie Haydel; brothers, Sterling Crochet Jr., Junius Crochet, Shelly Crochet, Harold Crochet, and James Crochet; sister, Yvonne C. Naquin.
Elton worked in the oilfield and as a crab fisherman for many years and owned his own crabbing factory. He was known by the locals as the “Tomato Man” for selling his home-grown tomatoes for over 15 years. Elton loved spending time with his beloved wife and his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
