Richard “Dickie” Nolan Prejeant, 76, died Friday, August 11, 2023 at 12:00 PM. Born July 9, 1947, he was a native and resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 9:00 AM until service time at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with burial following at Saint Joseph Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan Bartell Prejeant; daughters, Rebecca P. Andras (Shad), Jill Prejeant (Emilio Peralta); granddaughters, Hannah Gros, Victoria Gros; step grandchildren, Mason Andras, Teresa, Cecilia, Elena and Tomas Peralta; siblings, Sue Clark (Carl), John Prejeant (Judy), Mary Mire (Glen), Ann Calongne (Ken), Kay Arceneaux (Mike), Tesa Grabert (Don), Lisa Whitman (Phil), Joey Prejeant (Sarah Dean); sisters in law, Linda Gaffney, Ellen Bartell (Rhonda), Tauny Prejeant.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Prejeant and Marie Ledet Prejeant; brother, Michael Prejeant; father and mother in law, George and Marguerite Stevens Bartell; brothers in law, Brian, Michael, Gary and Richard Bartell, James Gaffney.
Dickie was a school teacher for 40 plus years in the Lafourche and Assumption parish school systems. He was a graduate from Thibodaux College and received his Master’s in Education from Nicholls State University. He mentored numerous students from our area. He was quietly wise and a wizard of sports data following various college and professional sports teams. He was an avid runner and participated in numerous local and national road races. Of all his accomplishments he always stated his greatest was raising and caring for his family.
