Rudolph “Doffy” Joseph Luke, 92, a native and resident of Dulac, La., passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation in honor of Rudolph on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Chauvin Funeral Home in Magnolia Chapel beginning at 9:00a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.


Rudolph is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Bernadette “Sue” Cunningham Luke; his children, Kevin “Brud” Luke and wife “Prissy,” Jessie Luke and wife, Melissa, and Amy Stein and husband, Henry “Tookie”; his grandchildren, Clint Luke (Lacey), Brandon Giordano (Deana), Brooke Giordano, Brittany Boura (Jesse), Garcia Dion, Charles Williams (Diane), Gypsy Dion, PJ Luke (Laci), Michael Stein (Nicole), David Stein (Courtney), and Shelbi Stein. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Bella, Blyss, Blake, Brynna, Brayah, Alyssa, Austin (Kaitlyn), Kali, Kristen, Gavin (Cierra), Gage, Brayden, Landon, Caleb, Isaiah, Colt, Luke, Aleena, Wyatt, Bostyn, Baxton, Ava, Destin, and his great-great-grandchildren, Summer, Adaline, Gianna; his siblings, Druscilla “Sis” Guidry, Adeline “Teenie” Theriot, Tilman “T-Man” Luke (Brunella), Melinda Tanner (Saul), and sister-in-law, Amy “Pookie” Collins.

Rudolph was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Gerdie Luke; his brothers, Raymond Jr. and Frankie Luke; his grandchildren, Brent Giordano, Jaiden Luke and Alyssa Bonvillain; his brothers-in-law, O.J. Guidry, Carroll Theriot, Charles Cunningham and Louis “Peter” Collins.
Rudolph was a deaf mute all of his life, but it was never a disability for him. He owned and operated his own trawl boats, worked on other boats, and at D’Luke shrimp factory to provide for his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to so many. If you ever met him, you would never forget him.

Rudolph was a parishioner of Holy Family Church in Dulac, where he served for many years as an usher, a member of the Holy Name Society, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7722 Lady of Good Voyage.


The family would like to thank the staff at Terrebonne Homecare and Terrebonne General for the care, love, and support they provided, not only to Rudolph, but also for his family.
