Local hunters who have yet to take a safety class have their chance this month.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is hosting a two-day hunter safety class on Friday and Saturday at the LPSO Training Academy, which is located at 751 Goode St. in Thibodaux.

The class starts at 8 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. On the second day, the class will meet at the LPSO Shooting Range at 3451 Louisiana Highway 182 near Raceland from 8 a.m. to noon.

Participants must attend class on both days, be at least 10 years old, and pass a written and practical exam to be certified. They are also encouraged to bring a bag lunch for the first class.

The course is free but pre-registration is required.

Call (985) 449-4480 to register.
