Houma Police Department - Press Release

This was a confusing one... While the Daigleville Bridge was Up (closed to vehicle traffic), Vehicle 1 crashed into the barricade bridge arm. While that driver was checking on their damage, Vehicle 2 decided to go around it and drove into the bayou. Driver of Vehicle 2, Jesus Garcia, tested more than double the legal limit of impairment. He was booked with 2nd DWI. Vehicle 1 fled the scene and is still unknown.

The investigation revealed that Axel Ulloa was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a light-colored full-size truck traveling south on Grand Caillou Rd at a high rate of speed. The truck did not stop.

On September 21, 2023 the Houma Police Department, after further investigation, identified and arrested the suspect responsible for the death of Axel Ulloa. The Houma Police Department received information on the identity of the suspect as being Jared Coates, 29 years old. 

Boykins was arrested for the charges of Curfew in the Parks, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a CDS, Resisting arrest by flight and Aggravated Flight from an Officer.
