Grass Carp weighing 92 pounds caught during LDWF sampling

During standard spring electrofishing sampling on Lake Concordia, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries biologists were shocked to find one particular fish in their samples, a 49.5-inch Grass Carp weighing in at a whopping 92 pounds.

Shrimp Season to Open in a Portion of State Outside Waters on April 4

Recent biological sampling conducted by the department has indicated that small white shrimp, which have over-wintered in these waters from January through the present, have reached marketable sizes, and the closure is no longer necessary.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) allocated $27 million to respond to the impacts of the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 Louisiana fishery disasters. A crucial step in the development of that spend plan will be the collection of public comments from members of the fishing community who were impacted by these hurricanes.
